Charity Crab Feed for One Safe Place

The annual Crab Feed is a Charity for the local women’s refuge, One Safe Place. I’ve posted here about this iconic event at least once before, 12 years ago, seen here.

These images are from 2023, and are from the after-party dance. Lots of line dancing and good time. The photos here were taken by my daughter Erin.

Looks like a good time was had by all. Hopefully a lot of money raised for the women’s shelter, One Safe Place. Unfortunately, even 12 years later the refuge facility is just as necessary as ever.

Heritage Day at Burney Falls

World famous Burney Falls is about an hour drive East from Redding. We went up for their Heritage Day festivities, and it was great fun. Here is Burney Falls:

Here’s an image of the event:

There were lot’s of demonstrations and participation for kids in various “Pioneer” crafts like wood cutting, branding irons, and (my grandson’s favorite) candle making. There was a BBQ food fund raiser by the local Rotary, and some Indian Tacos. Speaking of Indians, there was some Indigenous Dance demonstrations by (I assume) the local Pit River people. I read on the flyer where this is the first time they have participated in this annual event, so that’s both progress and sort of a sad commentary on what has passed for “Heritage” around here up until now.

I give it 5 stars, would go again next year. Best of all, admission was FREE.

Shasta County Mini Maker Faire in Redding

What a fabulous event! Very well attended.

From woodworking and sewing, to coding and battling robots, The Shasta Mini Maker Faire offered glimpses into the many Makers we have locally.

We had an absolute blast! Thank you organizers, participants, and volunteers.

Slide the City comes to Redding

The hill on Placer Street yesterday became a giant urban waterslide for a day.

Portions of the money raised here will go toward rebuilding the facilities at Kid’s Kingdom, a park in east Redding we’re very fond of. Judging by turnout, the event was big success. I’m told there were over 4000 participants.

Redding Rodeo 2016 captured like none other

Breakfast with 10,000 of my friends tomorrow

Re-posting this video we did a few years ago of the annual Asphalt Cowboy’s Pancake Breakfast that takes place each year on Friday of Rodeo Week. We’ve been going to this annual fundraising breakfast for as long as I can remember, and obviously we aren’t alone. I think it’s really unique to our town, and a terrific example of the true Redding spirit. Tomorrow morning, on Market Street at the Cascade Theatre block.
