Wine tasting fundraiser for the Palo Cedro Community Park

The good folks of Palo Cedro have been busy raising funds for their community park, which is under construction. Saturday, they had a wine tasting and auction event at the lovely Gaia Hotel. Everyone enjoyed the dazzling wine-food pairings, set to music by the one of the northstate’s true gems, The Pat Karch Trio. It is unclear how much money has been raised at this point, but it will soon be counted, verified and then donated. This was a great way of locally raising money by the locals in Palo Cedro, as everyone looked to be having a great time and will have no doubt donated generously. There is always the option of using a fundraising site like GoFundMe too, which would allow the community to gather donations from those further afield or from anyone unable to attend the wine tasting and auction event. For those who do attend the event, if they are split into teams, they may want to look at having branded apparel such as shirts and jackets to help distinguish between the teams. Organizers can go now to websites like imprint.com to see how this can be done.

Redding Dragstrip begins 2012 season with Street Legal Race

Street legal racing at the Redding Dragstrip keeps competitive spirits with powerful machines from racing on the streets of our community.
Redding dragstripIt’s safe and legal to speed at RDS. Saturday, putting the hammer down at 6pm.
Just $5 gets you in, $10 to race. Redding style prices, for sure.
Redding dragstripBetter here than on the street. Modern motorcycles have astonishing speed. Just gotta try it out somewhere…
Redding dragstrip jet carOh by the way, The Beast will return for Kool April Drags. This year the plan is to chain a car to the back of this thing and toast it. A “Car-B-Que.” I kid you not. Two nights in a row! That should be…I don’t know what, but I’ll be there.

Erin Murphy at Moseley Family Cellars in Redding CA Yesterday evening, Erin and her friends attended the Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday celebration at Moseley Family Cellars, at their location at 1300 Market Streeet in Redding.

It’s a shame that we live in a world where it’s even necessary to have a women’s refuge. But we do. And the good people of Redding have always proven willing to support the organization, and their goal of providing safe haven when needed. That’s Really Redding.

Redding student races her blown alcohol dragster in Fall Classic event @ Redding Dragstrip this weekend

MakinnaClevengerMakinna Clevenger will be racing a 1700 hp, 200+ mph car at the Redding Dragstrip this weekend for the Fall Classic race, which starts today and runs through Sunday.
This is from her website: “At ten years old, Makinna started racing junior dragsters and has enjoyed many successes over the years. Recently she completed the required passes for her NHRA competition license in her family’s blown alcohol dragster. Attending races has been a family affair for the 18-year-old Shasta College student. For her 16th birthday she acquired a Competition license for her 1,700 horse power blown alcohol dragster. Then a year later she made the next move towards her Advanced E.T. license, making her fastest career pass at over 200 mph.”
She’ll be racing in the same class as her dad. Should be an interesting weekend of racing!

Home Show at the Redding Convention Center

There’s a Home Show at Redding’s Convention Center. This weekend. Admission is free. Erin and I used to have a booth at a local Home Show twice a year, so we saw a lot of old friends and vendors we knew.

I’m sure there are a great many better photos than these from this weekend in Redding. I was working, but did find a little time to enjoy what I saw. And there are excellent images at the Redding Airshow website already. A classic Northstate experience. Thank you Redding Exchange Club and all who participated!
