New banners coming to Downtown

Viva Downtown accomplishes great things for Redding. I saw these terrific looking upcoming banner designs in a FB post and thought I’d share them here. Nice style.

We keep a link to Viva Downtown in the sidebar, or you can click the website image below. Always interesting to see what they have cooking.

Coming up: The Hops and Shops celebration event on February 19 looks like it will be bigger and better than ever.

Ski Park set to open on the 20th!

This is big news. Especially since the park was only opened for a few days last year due to the drought.

CASA Superhero Fun Run and Walk in Redding

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, one of our favorite charitable causes. According to the CASA website:
“CASA is a national program dedicated to providing quality court advocacy services to abused and neglected children under the jurisdiction of the Dependency Court. More than two million children have been helped by the program since its inception in 1977.”
The Redding Fun Run and Walk was held yesterday, and Erin participated with her young son. Here is a quick video impression.

It was a beautiful Fall day. Redding loves a reason to get outdoors for a fun run or walk. Thanks CASA Superhero run!CasaPeople1

Think Pink promotional effort underway today

Get ’em while they’re hot (pink)! This year the Think Pink bags are reusable grocery bags, a nice touch. The lovely Karry and her friends helped fill the bags. Available now at MD Imaging on Court Street. Mind the traffic…

Bids Bites & Brews at Shasta College

We attended the 2014 Bids Bites & Brews event at Shasta College’s farm. The proceeds benefit the educational program for ag students, and so all the workers and food prep was done with students.
SC Auction wideThe food was really terrific. I heard they harvested 2 hogs, and spent all day cooking. Yum.SC FoodOne of the auction items was this hunting dog puppy. Anderson Summer Concert series to host Tempest tonight!

It used to be the Mosquito Serenade, but now it’s called the Summer Serenade. A free concert series held in Anderson’s lovely River Park on Wednesdays. Tonight they are having the celtic rock band Tempest again. I ran this post below back in 2009. It looks like their lineup has changed a bit, but the spirit remains. I am re-posting to get you in the mood for this evening’s show. I loved the way the chain of dancers formed!
Tempest11
At first only the youngest kids are dancing, since they are more in touch with the muse.
Tempest10
But soon, the group of dancers grows larger, as the bigger kids join in.
Tempest6
Like a chain reaction, the group of dancers builds.
Tempest4
This band is hotter than than an Anderson July.
Tempest9
Soon the whole crowd is one single pulsating organism, throbbing to the rhythym.
Tempest
Yes, you have them in the palm of your hand. Nice work.
Tempest8
What a terrific venue! This free concert series is a longtime Anderson tradition. Thanks to all who contribute and sponsor. And Tempest, well, you blew us away!
