Shasta historian Dottie Smith alerted me to this new video on YouTube about one of my favorite bridges in Redding, the Diestelhorst.
Here’s an image I captured in 2012, prior to the restoration work now completed.

Shades of Kassie blows up YouTube
An acquaintance runs a YouTube channel from her home in Redding. Kassie recently blew past 100,000 subscribers! Her videos have been viewed nearly 6 million times!
“I am a girly girl that LOVES makeup and fashion…pretty much anything beauty related! I can’t wait to share my makeup & beauty tips and tricks with you!! Don’t forget to subscribe! 🙂 xo”
And evidently lots of folks have been more than happy to subscribe. Kudos and admiration to you Kassie!

Firedance Friday
Here’s a recording I captured of a firedance, performed in Palo Cedro a few weeks ago.
With all the recent wildfires raging here locally, posting this seems almost risque`.
When one dances with fire, it can burn.
Wishing safe success to the firefighters on the Gulch Fire in Bella Vista today. Protecting Northstate homes from wildfire is a different dance altogether.
Dancing with fire, it’s Really Redding.

National Neighborhood Night Out
We attended our neighborhood meeting in observance of National Neighborhood Night Out on Aug 5. Our awesome block captain was host. We had some folks from Shascom, RPD, and a few firemen come by too. And a police helicopter did a fly-by. It was good to see everyone. Crime prevention is always a hot topic.

Bandaloop dances on the Sundial
Well actually, suspended from the Sundial Bridge. Here is a brief video taken from my perspective among the large crowd gathered last night to enjoy these amazing performers. Be sure to watch in HD.
On the Summer Solstice in 2014, the flying dance troupe Bandaloop performed in the air to live music from The North State Symphony. They dance suspended from Redding’s famous Sundial Bridge in celebration of its 10th Anniversary. A grand time was had by all the many spectators, ourselves included. Thanks to the McConnell Foundation, Turtle Bay Museum, and the City of Redding.
Erin said, “It looks like something you’d see in the city.”
I say, “It is. The City of Redding.”
Thanks Bandaloop. You’re Really Redding.
