Redding Rodeo 2016 captured like none other

I’ve never seen better photos of the Redding Rodeo than these from photojournalist Matt Cohen:

Astonishing Rodeo athleticism from animals and humans. That’s Really Redding.

Mouse in the pool

Redding mouse secures refuge on a makeshift island consisting of a pool sweep float.

As found this morning. Presumably it was an anxious night for said rodent. Click to enlarge and then see what you think is going on in it’s tiny mind. Skimmed out calmly, and set free to face the next mouse challenge.

Phantom Falls near Oroville

Curating this here. I ran across this image on Reddit yesterday from user SonOfOnett. I don’t think I’d ever heard of Phantom Falls. Click to enlarge.
Phantom Falls

This year all the local waterfalls are running strong. I was talking to a friend about this photo, so I’m posting it here so I can more easily point it out. The terrain looks so much like that part of the valley about 70 miles south of Redding. All green and covered with flowers this time of year. This would be a great year to go see all our local falls. So beautiful! Thanks for the image, SonOfOnett!

Mt Shasta gets light cloak of snow

A gentle dusting signals our Fall season. The mountain has looked stark and barren all Summer. This light snowfall is so very welcome.

Mt Shasta ToyonThe Toyon berries above are still more orange than red. But Fall has begun. Let us hope it is a wet season.

New animations

Here are a couple of new animations I created for an upcoming home we’ll have listed for sale near the Tierra Oaks Golf couse. Still images of a swimming pool and a koi pond just don’t seem to convey the feeling of seeing it in person. Hoping these animations will help the seller.

The koi pond turned out nice, but the shimmering pool looks a bit hectic.

Bear-Pool7The home is in a beautiful setting. As the saying goes, the photos really don’t do it justice. I’ll keep trying.
