Odd lifeform spotted on Sacramento River shoreline

I spotted this odd creature on the river last Friday. Don’t know what it is. Maybe its just grass on a stump. Maybe its a diplomatic emissary from the Galactic Empire in communication with the Sundial Bridge. You decide.
